Traffic Guidance Officer

This qualification is aimed at producing employees who manage traffic through and/or past roadwork sites. Duties would include directing traffic with a stop/slow bat or similar control device and also setting up and working with Traffic Control Guidance Plans in accordance with approved Traffic Management Plans.

To work as a Traffic Guidance Officer in NSW, it is a Safework NSW requirement that you hold a current Traffic Controller and Implement Traffic Management Plans competency card.

Learning Live is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and as such, we are responsible for the quality of the training and assessment in compliance with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015, and for the issuance of AQF certification documentation.

Career Outcomes This course is required for those working in Traffic Control Work.
On Completion On completion of training, successful participants will be provided with a Statement of Completion that will act as an interim certificate to gain the required workplace experience to be eligible for assessment. After successful completion of your practical assessment, participants will then be provided with a Statement of Attainment and a Safework NSW Traffic Controller and Implement Traffic Control Plans competency card.
Description This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to control traffic with stop-slow bat and implement traffic management plans in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.

Requirements
  • Participants must be 17 years of age or over.
  • Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment is to be worn (this is not provided by Learning Live). This includes steel capped boots, long pants, long sleeved shirt and wide brimmed hat and sunscreen. If you cannot obtain a Hi-Vis long sleeved shirt, a vest will be loaned to you for the duration of training.
  • It is highly recommended that students hold a minimum P1 driver’s licence before undertaking the course.
  • Current Work Safely in the Construction Industry White Card.
  • The assessment conditions for this course require that you complete on the job workplace training where you collect workplace samples of your experience and attend a final practical observation on a live traffic control site with a Safework NSW Approved Assessor.
